Shades of Grey

As part of our initiative to celebrate student achievement in writing, Dominique Castro ('19) has submitted two poems to be published by The Eagle's Eye. If you or someone you know would like to submit original work, please inform Mr. Felder at gfelder@metropolitanhs.org.

Shades Of Grey

Every time I looked at you, colors will appear
So beautiful that towards the end I ended up with fear
Looking at you now and my sight is not clear
Try to see closer but you weren't very near
Try to move on but you were always in my way
Once full of color, now my heart is shades of grey
Hearing you sound so gentle, so smart
There once was a time that you were a work of art
I was dark as night
You were bright as day
Once full of color, now look who's finally shades of grey
Looking at me, time to time me popping in your mind

Everyday my sight got clearer until you became blind.
