Lesson Learned

As part of our initiative to celebrate student achievement in writing, Dominique Castro ('19) has submitted two poems to be published by The Eagle's Eye. If you or someone you know would like to submit original work, please inform Mr. Felder at gfelder@metropolitanhs.org.

Lesson Learned

1 person with a huge heart
1 person with no soul
Huge heart has hope
While the soul loses control
Huge heart has a future
Soul wants theirs to end
Soul has a gang
Huge heart has one friend
Huge heart falls for soul
but doesn't know the truth
Heart has hopes that soul won't let loose
Huge heart falls but the soul flies
Heart then gets hurt and life is finally in its eyes
Soul played heart wrong all along
Heart was broken
But pick the pieces to stay strong
Heart moved on
But soul always had heart on its mind
Soul finds care for heart that is deep inside
Soul asks heart for another chance another try
Heart's been hurt so much
It had no cares to give this time
Heart's last words before it finally moves on and never see soul again

"Always lament, honesty is the best policy. So long my once true friend"

  1. Dominique,
I got chills as I read this in front of you and Mr. Felder yesterday and now, chills yet again. Look forward to easing more. Brava!
    Keep Writing,
    Ms. Ross
